Zinc Guttering

Zinc guttering is a long-lasting and eco-friendly rainwater system, lasting 50-100 years when maintained correctly. This is because…

…it is non-ferrous so will not rust or chip/ peel. Our Quartz zinc guttering has a beautiful patina which is self healing and insoluble to rainwater, making it an ideal choice on both contemporary and heritage style properties. Over time…this layer will protect against harsh weather. Zinc is also 100% recyclable and prohibits the growth of fungus or mould, making it an ideal choice for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

We also supply natural zinc gutters which have a shiny surface and develop a patina over time (see image below). It can take up to 10 years for the matt grey patina to form, depending on location.

Whilst PVCu is a popular choice for many homeowners and builders, when you look at the long term costs associated with plastic, zinc performs incredibly well on cost – we think it looks smarter too!

Benefits of zinc guttering:

  • Fully recyclable
  • Natural colouration – no need for special paints or treatment.
  • Will not fade
  • Low melting point means less energy is needed to convert it into recycled material.
  • Very little maintenance required over its lifetime – unlike plastic, zinc gutters & downpipes don’t need to be replaced after a few years.
  • Easy to install – the system has 3m gutter lengths which makes installation simple.
  • Zinc poisons moss and algae, meaning no plant build up over time. This reduces the amount of gutter cleaning!
  • Unaffected by corrosion
  • Great match for zinc roofing and standing seam systems.
  • This system is compatible with spruce wood, oak, chestnut, red cedar, Douglas fir and all woods with a PH less than 5.

We supply the full range of zinc rainwater materials, including quartz and natural zinc rainwater systems. Many are available on a next day delivery basis. Please get in touch with out team if you have any queries:

Zinc Guttering FAQs

Zinc is one of the longest lasting metal guttering materials. It can last up to 100 years with the correct maintenance.

They do not require much maintenance at all. The great thing about zinc is that is poisins algae and prevents the build up of plants within the gutters. You can refer to our ‘gutter cleaning guide‘ for more information.

Our team is also on hand Monday to Friday to answer any queries you might have:

As mentioned above, natural zinc guttering, as supplied by Gutter Warehouse, will look shiny initially, but weather over time, forming a beautiful textured grey patina.

We estimate 7-8 years, although it depends on the environmental conditions (e.g. rain, wind, hail) and geographical location.

Please note that some whitening on the surface may be visible in the few months after installation. This is while the zinc builds its natural protective grey patina finish.

If a few years is too long to wait, you can purchase Quartz zinc, which is pre weathered.

Yes! Any surface scratches will not need any attention, giving you peace of mind upon installation.

We believe that it can be installed by a competent DIYer. The rubber sealed unions stop ends will not require any sealant, solvent or soldering. Our technical team can advise you on the best brackets to purchase and if any screws/bolts or tools will be required for the rainwater installation.

Absolutely! We understand choosing guttering can be difficult. Please drop our team an email on or use the enquiry form on our contact us page.
